COVID-19 Update 3/30/20

I want to keep everyone in the loop about what is being discussed behind the scenes with our current situation and the board.  The board met Friday to decide next steps and today you might have heard the President would like to continue the National quarantine until April 30th at this point.  So with that being said we will have all trainings and events on hold through at least April 12th and as that date closes in we will be having another meeting.

I know some teams have a tournament at the end of April in Chicago.  I will leave it to teams at this point whether they want to pull out of that tournament due to current circumstances.  However it is clear the tournament may have to make a decision to cancel in the next couple weeks anyway.  If that does not happen we will make a decision as a board prior to April 12th as to whether we will pull all of our teams from that tournament.  If Chicago COVID cases increase it may be the right thing to do, but at this time it is a very fluid situation and no decision will be made at this time for that tournament.

East Central will be meeting as a group this coming week and may have more guidelines as well.  We will continue to keep you up to date with any new news.

COVID-19 Update 3/17/20

In case you have not seen it yet, Governor Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services have issued a moratorium on gatherings of 10 or more people:

In the language is a statement that schools must remained closed through the duration of the state of emergency or until an additional order authorizes reopening.

Please note the state of emergency declaration runs through May 10, which means that schools will likely not open on April 6.

Also, no one should be having in person practice sessions during the duration of this latest issue by the governor.  Hopefully as time moves on and the situation improves moratoriums will be lifted, possibly for certainly population groups.  Stay tuned, its all we can do in these times, we will be taking a look at the situation each week and keep everyone informed on a weekly basis.

03/13/20 Update on COVID-19 and Players Choice Training

Dear Members,
The NEW United Board met today to discus the current situation surrounding COVID-19 and current CDC and State Health recommendations.  I presented the latest information from a call with the State Health Department this morning.
After a careful review of factual information NEW United board has decided to cancel all NEW United group activities which will include any games, trainings, as well as any activities and rentals at Players Choice until 3/27/2020.  The next two weeks will allow the board to gather additional information and factual data to make a decision beyond that.  The Nike Showcase In Schaumberg is still on as of now for the weekend of March 28th for those teams going but that could change.  NEW United SC is recommending that NEW United SC teams competing in games at other facilities, such as Soccer Heaven, not participate effective immediately.
In summary no games, trainings, or use of players choice until we reevaluate effective Immediately.
Thanks and stay healthy

COVID-19 and Soccer (3/12/20)

Today I was on a call with the CDC through my job in health care and as you may already know our Governor has declared a state of emergency.  This remains a fluid situation and facts at this point in time that influence decisions now may change rapidly, sometimes in hours, necessitating a different decision in only hours.  At this time we are NOT cancelling practices or events for tonight.  This may change tomorrow or over the weekend so please stay tuned.  This could include trainings, games, or pulling out of tournaments even if they are not cancelled.  This virus poses much less risk for the kids.  But the concern with our kids in soccer is contracting this virus and remaining asymptomatic for days or weeks while passing it through the community so a decision to cancel events would be mostly a epidemiological responsibility.

Please stay tuned to our web page and Facebook.
