Meet ASC Trainers

Will Greer, Director of Coaching/Head Coach/Trainer for U12, U13 Boys

Lloyd Greer, better known as Will, is the Director of Coaching for the Appleton Soccer Club. Will has coached players ranging from ages 5 to Division III College programs.  He is currently the assistant men’s coach at Lawrence University in Appleton.   Before coming to Lawrence University and ASC, Will was the assistant women’s soccer coach at Marian University in Fond du Lac, WI.  Will is currently the Head Coach for the U13 Boys Red and U12 Boys Red teams.  Coach Greer Holds a USSF B License as well as an extensive playing career at the club, high school, and collegiate levels.

Will and his wife Jodi, along with children Aidan and Alivia live in Appleton and enjoy what this community has to offer. It is a wonderful place to raise a family and to teach the game he loves.


Blake Johnson, Head Goalkeeping Coach/ Trainer U13 Girls

Blake Johnson is the Director of Soccer at Lawrence University.  Born in Ohio, Johnson bounced around both North and South America as a child. His love of the game was built from many different cultures. He attended the University of Wisconsin and played soccer before heading to Chile to work with the YMCA.  Johnson finished his undergraduate work at Springfield (Mass.) College and graduated in 1984 with a degree in health fitness. He earned his master's degree in education from Springfield in 1993. Johnson holds a USSF B License as well as a NSCAA Advanced National Diploma.

Johnson and his wife, Tami, have three children, Gabriela, Marlena, and Eleanora.


Lisa Sammons, Head Coach/Trainer U12 Girls

Lisa Sammons has served as the Associate Head Women's Soccer coach at Lawrence University since the 2007 season. Sammons teams with Director of Soccer Blake Johnson to guide the Vikings through the tough Midwest Conference. Sammons, who earned a bachelor's degree in nutrition, exercise, and physiology from the University of Minnesota in 1993, brings a great deal of prep and youth coaching experience to ASC. 

Coach Sammons  has a United States Soccer Federation  C license. Lisa has been the head girls' varsity coach at Kaukauna High School and coached the Under-14 girls' Wayzata Select team, the Under-15 girls' Olympic Development Program team, the Under-12 girls' Oshkosh United Classic team, and the N.E.W. United 93 Boys' Premier team.

Sammons and her husband, Mike, live in Appleton and have four children, Sheri, Nathan, Samantha, and Rylee.


Lance Gordon, Head Coach/Trainer for U10 Developmental, U11 Boys

Lance Gordon is currently the Head Coach of Men's Soccer at Ripon College, in Ripon, WI.  Coach Gordon has served on the Mount Horeb Soccer Club Board of Directors, as well as the Mount Horeb Soccer Club Director of Coaching. He earned his USSF National "C" Certification in 2006 and is also certified in NSCAA Goalkeeper Training.

Prior to being the Head coach at Ripon College , Coach Gordon spent three years as head coach of the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley. In his final season with UW-FV, Gordon led his squad to a 14-2-1 record, which culminated with him receiving the 2008 WCC Coach of the Year award. In his three years at UW-FV, Gordon led the school to a 27-18-2 record.

Coach Gordon is currently the head coach of the U-11 Red ASC Evolution and trains the the U-11 and U-10 age groups.

 


Megan Frey, Trainer Appleseed Academy

Megan Frey just finished her first season as an assistant coach for the Vikings. A native of Wauwatosa, WI, Frey was a first-team All-WIAC selection at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. A team captain, she led the Pointers to four consecutive league titles and three NCAA Division III Tournament appearances.

Frey earned a bachelor’s degree in health promotion and wellness at UWSP and was the soccer direc­tor at the YMCA of Boulder Valley before coming to Lawrence.  She has trained and coached several teams in the Stevens Point, WI area as well as the Boulder, CO area.
